Sending Quicken Files
The backup feature in Quicken is very poorly
designed and takes some manual effort to work with effectively. Unlike the
backup command in QuickBooks, which puts all of the data into one compressed
file, Quicken simply makes copies of all the four or five separate data files
and doesn't compress them at all. When I back up my
ACT! database, the program automatically zips
the 22+ files into one very compressed file. Until such time as
Intuit fixes this oversight, you are on your own to work with your back up
files.
The most effective method of working with the
Quicken files is to use a zipping program to combine
all of the individual data files into one compressed file that can be easily
attached to an email.
When sending us data files, please let us
know which version of Quicken they are from and what the password is, if you are
using one. This will save us a lot of time in getting into the actual
data.
Also, please
send the entire time period covered by the data
file. Do not try to limit it to cover any specific time period. We
will work with the appropriate dates as needed.
